| Note | In searching the web for records about my family, there are times when that can be a source of great joy or great sadness. Kenny Lynn Stroud was such a find, a horrific loss of such a wonderful perso n. I found his obituary on line while searching for the address of his mother, my sister. Here is what I found: KENNY LENN STROUD, 44, born October 27, 1959, beloved son of Jheneva and Gerald (Sonny) Stroud, Sr., left us Monday evening July 19, 2004.
Kenny is survived by his parents; brother Gerald Stroud & wife Juthamanee (Cat), six sisters & their husbands: Tina & Joseph (Bubba) Butler; Gina & Tommy Pullin; Dr. Lisa Reyes; Lora Stroud and Ste ve King; Mamie & Ben Cornish, and Evelyn Stroud; Great-Aunt Irene Meyer, Uncle Eugene & Aunt Jeanine Norwood, Aunt Ima McFadden; and numerous other relatives & friends. A special thank to Betti e & Bennie Modesette for their care, patience, love, & many prayers for Kenny over the years. http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl/obits_3783499/stroud.html Reading this doesn't let you about the person that Kenny was during his life. He was a kind soul, fun loving, a practical joker and always and I mean always had a smile on his face. One of the stories I remember about Kenny is one summer day I was spending it with my Dad and Kenny. Dad was cooking us supper, and for those who knew my Dad he could only cook 1 thing in life and th at was cornbread stuffing for Thanksgiving, every thing else was just horrible. Dad was cooking soup, by empting several soup cans into a large pot, and then putting in vegetables into the witches br ew. Both Kenny and I looked at each other trying not to hurt Dad's feelings but both knowing there is no way in hell we were going to eat that slop. Then Dad was slicing carrots into the mix and cu t his finger deep and almost sliced the tip off into the mix. Blood ended up every where and Kenny turned a little blue and said "Sorry Grandpa, I'm a vegetarian I can't eat meat." Needless to say w e didn't have to eat the horrible mess. Right after the soup incident, Kenny and I went to the local drive in to catch "Bugs" a horror flick about coachroaches and to get a decent meal of hot dogs and popcorn. I went back to get some popco rn while Kenny stayed back in the car, on the way back I stuck around to the back of the car and waited for a few minutes until I knew a particular scary part in the story was coming up. I had stuc k right up to the door on his side of the car and waited. As soon as the scene came up, I popped up and grabbed his arm and screamed, he screamed like a little girl, jump up and hit his head on the roof and spilled his coke in his lap. It took him the res t of the movie to calm down. That was just one of many practical jokes we would play on each other. I will always miss him and his humor. The world will be forever darker without him. |
